Coach Greg Herbert

Coach Herbert has been coaching at Whitman since 2000.

 

Coach Herbert has coached Whitman athletes in boys tennis, boys volleyball, boys jv soccer, gi​rls varsity basketball, and girls varsity soccer.  Coach Herbert has also coached both the boys and girls soccer teams at Pyle. 

 

Coach Herbert took over the girls program at Whitman the year after they won their first state title in 2004.  In 2005 Coach Herbert coached the girls to a regional championship and an appearance in the state final game.  Under the guidance of Coach Herbert Whitman girls soccer has been in nine regional finals and seven state finals.  The team has won 6 state titles under Coach Herbert (2013, 2014, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024) while being a finalist in 2005 and 2018.

 

Coach Herbert has been awarded as Coach of the Year in both The Washington Post as well as being named the coach of the year for MACS and United Soccer Coaches.

 

After the success of both the Viking Soccer Clinics and Viking Soccer Camp Coach Herbert is thrilled to be working with the community again this summer and holding another Viking Soccer Camp.  He thoroughly enjoys working with the youth in the community and helping them learn how to play the game and more importantly, how to enjoy the game.

 

Coach Herbert lives in Germantown with his wife, Laura, and two sons; Dawson and Brayden.
